Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), Acupuncture is an ancient practice that involves insertion of thin sterile needles into acupuncture points in the body. Acupuncture points are usually located on meridian channels which are energetic pathways which have a connection to the human mind and internal organs as well. Acupuncture is not only about treating pain or symptoms but also internal issues and the root that is causing the disease.

How does acupuncture heal pain?

In TCM, since we work with the bodies meridians. We use the needles to help promote circulation and "open up the channels" in that part of the meridian. This helps with many types of pain including...

  • All kinds of pain issues (Musculoskeletal pain,  chronic & acute body pain)
  • Sciatica, Scoliosis, Frozen Shoulder
  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritis and Joint Issues
  • Surgery and Post-Fracture Recovery
  • Headache and Migraines

Can Acupuncture work with Internal Issues?

Usually internal issues are caused by an imbalance of our organs "Qi". In TCM we work on the body more holistically because the "meridian" in our body has an affiliation with the organ. When the organs are functioning more properly, then the symptoms may start alleviating itself.

With acupuncture, we can usually help alleviating symptoms relating with...

  • Allergies, Flu , Cold
  • Gastrointestinal issues including Belching, Acid reflux, Digestion issues
  • Bowl issues
  • Diabetes, High Blood Pressure
  • Post Chemotherapy Care and Support
  • Stroke Recovery
  • Auto-immune diseases
  • Dermatological disorders, Eczema, Acne, Dermatitis
  • Insomnia
  • Emotional stress, anxiety or depression

How many sessions does it take?

Acupuncture can be very effective however, does not work in one session. In order for the needles to show effect, a consecutive treatment is usually needed. Depending on every individuals, the average of sessions may take from 5 to 10 sessions.

During your initial treatment or consultation, we will be able to give  you an answer as to whether or not we think we will be able to help you  with any specific issue.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture should not hurt. There may be a small pinch upon insertion, however if a dull linger or pain still manifests after insertion, our practitioners can accommodate according to your comfort.
